From the location through to the design, we rate Tennyson, a ten out of ten!
Walking down the tree lined street with the autumnal colours flanking either side, it feels like you’re in suburbia – but you’re only minutes from the city.
Tennyson is one of those rare east-to-west streets in Beckenham which connects Colombo Street – the main vein of Christchurch running north to south through the beating heart of the CBD all the way through to the foot of the Port Hills – and Palatine/Riverlaw Terrace, the meandering river-based streets ideal for strolls with the family.
It’s position perfect for families – walking distance to New World St Martins, a pilates studio, multiple coffee shops and local eateries. It’s also equidistant to the two best watering holes in the city. Moon Under Water and its cult craft followers all rave about the venue.
The other watering hole is quite different… and somewhat of a local secret – Fresh Water Springs is an ever running tap of untreated water straight from an aquifer – described as the most beautiful water in Christchurch. I personally visit here every few weeks to restock the purest water!
